MARTINIQUE #PARADISE #ISLANDGUIDE

Hi Guys,

Today, I would like to tell you about my last trip in the French overseas department and territories, more specifically, in the island of Martinique (French Antilles).

I spent three weeks in August with my family and I wanted to share with you my opinion about the varied landscapes, the History island and the variety of the culture.

What to do there?

Beaches: In the North of the island we can find a millions of hectares of tropical forest, the South of the island is wild and authentic and you can admire the sunset. Personally, I have discovered the most beautiful beach in the South, which is “Le Diamant”. As you can see on the photo, this island owes its name to because of its general shape, tip and bevelled, as well as reflections from the walls evoking those of a precious stone.

Other beaches to visit:
Les Trois-Ilets, Le Diamant, Sainte Anne, Sainte Luce, Saint Pierre, Les Anses d’Arlet, Pointe du Bout.

Boat trip and swim with turtles: The boat will take you to a low depth site where you will discover fauna and flora of tropical seas with fins, mask and snorkel.

During one hour, they were looking the sea to watch dolphins and whales. The site was sharply beautiful. I think that was the best part of the trip.

The second stop is a tranquil bay where you can swim and see turtles feeding in their natural habitat.
It was a wonderful time for us.

Traditional distillery: The Saint James distillery produces premium rum since 1975. The rum was named “ Saint James”, this is the first place where this type of rum has been created. The distillery wins awards in international competition. I enjoyed the visit of the Rum Museum, the Museum is located in Sainte Marie and they were celebrating the Rum Saint James 250 years anniversary. You must taste this rum!

Where to eat?

Ti-Sable”: Reserve a few days in advance, as this place is very popular. This restaurant is set in a relaxed atmosphere where you will enjoy your meal with your toes in the sand.

Le point de vue”: This restaurant cooks the best creole Cuisine. This is a typical restaurant with a good value and a beautiful view of the sea.

When to go?

I suggest you to go there between December and March. That is the best season because the heat and the sea are nice and especially you avoid winter in the Metropolis.

Finally, my advice to you is to rent a car and go around the island. You can make a loop around the island in two hours. In fact, it is a small island that’s why you need to rent a car to find the perfect landscape and the different bay.

Enjoy!
